sTREM-1 level is a valuable early indicator for infection and sepsis

Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells (TREM)-1 is involved in monocytic activation and in the inflammatory response. It is expressed on neutrophils, mature monocytes and macrophages. The release of a soluble form of this receptor is greatly during sepsis, which can be measured in biological fluid and thus is highly useful as a diagnostic tool.
